Déjà Who?

2020 is my year of change. I know I do not stand alone in that statement. Every single one of us has been impacted in some way by the incessant rampage of 2020. Every time I speak to my friends or family members it seems that a substantial life event is on their horizon – bad or good. Regardless of the change 2020 has manifested, the thought lingers in the back of my head,

haven’t I been here before.


The feeling of déjà vu has been visiting me often this year. Most recently with daylight savings time. My body feels the same every “Fall Back” and “Spring Ahead”; fatigued, worn out, and unwilling or not wanting to get out of bed. I have been here before.


Sometimes though, déjà vu can be less obvious and hard to determine the origin. Sometimes it is a linear timeframe that happens every spring and fall, other times it is a loop. Some loops have a long timeframe, others are short in time, they’re all intersecting and flowing until one moment connects them – déjà vu. The thought of this has happened before. It’s like there’s a memory in your brain trying to escape but it can’t find the way. The characters can be different, the location is different, but there is a lesson to recognize.



I am experiencing a repetitive loop and I know the lesson because it is one I’ve encountered many times before – boundaries. It’s time to reevaluate my boundaries. The energy and people I let into my space will affect my mind, my day, and my perspective. The more the loop is presenting itself, the louder and stronger the memory becomes. Life’s lessons keep repeating themselves in loops until you understand it’s meaning and act upon it. This has taught me to ask myself about my boundaries. Is there a balance between what I’m giving and what I’m getting back? A shift in boundaries needs to happen if you are giving more than you are receiving from other individuals, thoughts or actions.


Pay attention to familiar feelings and recurring lessons. Also, learn from me and protect your boundaries by being mindful of who or what you let into your daily space. We have all been here before, so be kind to yourself and others.
