About Bluebird Experience
Bluebird Experience fosters learning and academic excellence by working with scientists, educators, and nature enthusiasts in order to restore songbirds and their habitat. We strive to create a sustainable, fulfilling, and academically enriched environment for our community and science.
Shelly Sutley: Founder/Director of Development
Shelly has been working with Bluebird Experience for 11 years. Her love for Bluebirds grew from discovering they were a real bird to being a part of fledging over 400 baby bluebirds. Her passion for songbird restoration is contagious and she will have an entire room singing Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah!
Sam Plasch: Creative Director
Sam graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in Art Education and currently teaches elementary school art. Her favorite part of working with Bluebird Experience is the excitement of
successfully fledging baby Bluebirds!
Kayla Burger: Content Manager
Kayla holds a degree in Cross-Media Graphics Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and currently works as a Packaging and Graphic Designer in Eau Claire, WI. Bluebird Experience provides her the opportunity to use her love for technology to help track restoration efforts.
Krista Lambrecht: Director of Community Collaboration
Krista is the Positive Connector. She has a degree from UW-Eau Claire in Human Resources. Since a young age Krista enjoyed being outside and working with others. She uses her passion for connecting people and environmental restoration by working full time with Bluebird Experience.
Ian Walker: Financial Advisor
Ian is Captain Adaptable. He enjoys working with others and anything outdoors. Ian is utilizing his UW-Eau Claire Finance degree by working at a local
credit union. He also assists Bluebird Experience with financial decisions to help make this project sustainable.
Breanna graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire with a degree in Human Resources. She currently is a HR Generalist for a social services company in the Twin Cities area. Breanna enjoys dancing, traveling, and going on adventures in her free time. She is dedicated to the Bluebird Experience as she believes giving back to the Eau Claire community is important and fulfilling.
Alicia Benner: Citizen Science Coordinator
Alicia graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a major in Exercise Science and a minor in Chemistry. She is furthering her education at Bethel University to obtain a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Alicia uses her love for science to manage participants of Bluebird Experience in environmental research and restoration efforts. She enjoys fostering the scientific reasoning and problem solving abilities of participants. Alicia also
collaborates with NestWatch and SciStarter’s Sparrow Swap to provide scientists with observational data online, bridging nature and technology effectively.
